Hi All. Sorry that I have not updated the Pokemon of the day. But now I am changing it to Pokemon of the WEEK. Both I and some readers have some trouble managing to update/read every day. PS - So if you have been waiting for the change everyday then sorry but you probably now will easily remember the pokemon that has been there for the long time - Diglett!

Introduction to this blog and Pokemon

Hey all you kids out there (and if an adult I'm really surprised). Thanks for choosing to read this blog on my favourite Tv show and game for my GBA and DS:- Poke'mon!!

You have probably been insulted when someone tells you "You play Poke'mon? It's so stupid!" Well don't be. They don't know what they are missing (and if they do, too bad for them). Don't worry that you are too old to play it 'coz don't forget :- ADULTS STARTED POKE'MON!! I mean don't tell me that you thought that some tiny kid would have started one of the world's greatest crazes?

Now if you do want to know what Poke'mon is... then go on and read the next few paragraphs or else skip them and go on to the following items-

Hm... Poke'mon... where to start? Well Poke'mon are "creatures". No wait. That is an under statement. Aah! I got it (Now seriously this is true if you did not know) they are POCKET MONSTERS. Yup! that's where the name is derived from. Any how these Pocket Monsters can be found all over the "Poke'mon World". There are 493 now (check the blogger date for when this has been typed 'coz the no. is gonna keep increasing) distributed over the four regions so far (again check the date 'coz there is gonna be more). They are Kanto- From no. 1-151, Then Johto- From no. 152-251, Then Hoenn(My favourite)- From no. 252-386 and the current last one Sinnoh- From no. 387-493. They can be caught in Pokeballs and used to fight other trainers and master trainers called Gym Leaders (Master on a single type)

Each Pokemon has a type (There are 17 in total) and some even two!. Each type has a weakness, Another type against which it is strong or has an advantage, then a type on which it does half the damage (not very effective) and only some types have attacks that would have no effect the opponent. Eg: a water type attack would cause double damage on a fire type pokemon(water puts out fire) but on a grass type pokemon (That is like a plant type) would only cause half damage. But a grass type attck would do double damage on a water (cause.. well plants absorb water. ugh.. science). Then a ground type attack would do no damage to a flying type Pokemon. (As it would not reach the flying pokemon)

Ah... Now the juicy bits! Pokemon evolution. Woohoo! My favourite part of Pokemon. Pokemon evolution is when some Pokemon change their form to another form of usually the same type or adding the additional second type if it did not have one on the previous stage(does not have to gain one though) .I forgot something important (though you probably figured it out) each Pokemon has its own name which matches its type and how it looks) . The most recorded evolution is of a Pokemon called Eevee. It has seven optional evolutions (so far). A Pokemon can evolve to a Pokemon and then the one after that. Or a choice between 2 or as in the case of Eevee, 7! Or you could have combinations like lets take a Pokemon A. A can evolve to either B or C. If A evolves to B then B can evolve to D or If A evolves to C then C can evolve to E. There are other possible combos but that is quite useless. Now 2 things-

• Evolution is not necessary- You can prevent a pokemon from evolving or not give it the necessary item or treatment which takes us to the next point-



• Evolution can take place due to a number of factors. Seriously A lot of factors. Read On 'coz the next paragraph is full of this.

Wait! Dont tell me that you don't want to read this 'coz its too long. I typed this for all you guys so please don't reject this. Well if you do you'll regeret it.

Now then... Evolutions take place in the following ways-

• Evolution bye Level- Each progresses at a certain rate and gains Experience Points (No it does not say so on TV only in the games) When enough is earned The pokemon grows to the next level. At certain levels they learn new attacks and at particular level it evolves.


• Stones- The Fire Stone, Water Stone, Leaf Stone, Thunder Stone, Moon Stone, Sun Stone, Dawn Stone and Shiny Stone (So far) are the stones that evolve. Only CERTAIN POKEMON EVOLVE. I get asked a lot whether you can evolve any water pokemon by a water stone or ditto for a fire pokemon etc. No, only some evolve with the respective stone for the pokemon.
• Trading- Some Pokemon Evolve when traded to another trainer either by Link Cable or Wireless Adapter or Wi-Fi. Only in the games can you do this.
• Trading with held item - Again in the games you make a pokemon evolve by making it hold an item an then trade them. The above two evolutions take place only after the pokemon in claimed to be the trader's Pokemon. That is Only when it reaches the person you are trading with.
• Happiness/Loyalty- There is a rate of how much a Pokemon likes/dislikes you. When the liking hits max. And the trainer maintains it all the way to next level, Then on going to the next level it evolves (Whereas in normal level up evolution the Pokemon could hate you and still evolve)
• In Pokemon Diamond Pearl Platinum, Some Pokemon evolve when they learn a new attack. The majority attack upon learning which Pokemon evolve is "Ancient Power"
• Maxing out beauty- This Applies only for the Pokemon Feebas- A pokemon has five statitics for a Contest- Beauty, Coolness, Toughness, Smartness and Cuteness. For Feebasyou must give it ither lots of blue poffins or Pokeblocks (Depends on which game- Diamond, Pearl , Platinum or Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire). Once you max out the beauty and take it o the next level it will evolve.

Similar to the Feebas evolution there are many evolutions that are unique to a special pokemon. Hey I dont remember all of them but these are the main evolving techniques. I will update if find out any more ways. That's All for the Intro but that is barely anything compared to what I've not told you. But If you got hung to Pokemon Because of this intro then you will soon figure it out for yourself. So long!
